It is easy to setup apps to run as a service in
NT4 IE 5.5
2000 and Win XP
Its called Task Schduler and it is located in
Start / Settings / Control Panel / Scheduled Tasks
No matter if you are logged in or not it will launch any program of
your choosing and can be configured to restart the program if it were
to crash.
I have been using this method to run programs as a service for 3
years Think of it as a *NIX Cron Service.
oh another nice feature is you can make the programs run under
alternate user credentials so if a program doesnt need admin rights
you can use a user account that has none.

I know I saw instructions on here before, but I have yet to dig
themup. Searching for "NT service" and other variations just led down
wacky paths.
Can anyone put their finger on those instructions to setup
server.plwacky paths.
